Dr Sonal Minocha
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement)
Dr Minocha joined Bournemouth University in June 2014 as its lead for Global engagement entailing global recruitment, partnership, mobility and global profile raising agenda for the University. Before joining BU, Sonal was Executive Dean at the University of Bedfordshire Business School. In this role she led the largest Faculty of the University (circa 36m) comprising a range of Departments including the Law School. In this role, she incepted and implemented a practice led vision for the Faculty that resulted in a refreshed new undergraduate and postgraduate portfolio, innovative mini internships called practice weeks, establishing 35 new productive relationships with regional employers, thus re-profiling, to form a truly business facing Business School. In her Executive portfolio, Sonal led the design and development of an exciting new Employability proposition for the University Education + Experience = UOB Employability Commitment.
Prior to the University of Bedfordshire, Dr Minocha was Associate Dean at the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Sunderland, UK. Sonal was responsible for the international development and external engagement portfolios of the Faculty and was also responsible for the effective human (line management for Heads) and resource management of the Faculty including budgets (circa 26 million).
Prior to Sunderland University, Dr Minocha was at Anglia Ruskin University as Head of Department at Ashcroft International Business School. Before joining Anglia Ruskin, Dr Minocha was Dean and Associate Professor at Raffles University, S.E. Asia’s largest private university.
She has more than 10 years’ experience of Higher Education in a global context in various senior management roles.
Sonal’s main academic interests lie in exploring methods of business and management research, micro level strategising in organisations, strategic creativity and organisational learning. As well as management education she has a special interest in the film and related international creative industries and her work has been disseminated via a range of outlets including books, articles and refereed papers.
Sonal’s research expertise has been put into practice by leading the design, development and delivery of innovative programmes for a range of corporate and international clients (including Harrods, Ridgeons, Basildon Hospital, Severstal and so forth).
Sonal is passionate about Global H.E. and serves the QS Advisory Councils as an ambassador for the internationalisation agenda.
